Great news for Ladies Skijumping: From the winter 2011/12 a FIS World Cup will be held also for the ladies.

This enjoyable decision was made at the 47th International Ski Congress, that was held in Antalya (TUR) last week. Any details on this new series are still unknown, a draft for the World Cup calendar is being developed.

The competitions of the Ladies Continental Cup, that was established in 2004, were consistently attended by more then 50 athletes from 15 countries in the last years. So the introduction of the World Cup is just the next logical step in the development of that discipline. Hopefully it will also support the efforts to include Ladies Skijumping to the Olympics.

Another decision of the FIS Congress is, that a ladies team event will be held at the next Junior World Championships in Otepää.
