Sarah Hendrickson won the inaugural Ladies World Cup in Lillehammer ahead of Coline Mattel and Melanie Faisst.
Sarah Hendrickson is the winner of the first Ladies World Cup competition in history. The 17 year old American won the competition this afternoon on the K90 in Lillehammer with a pair of jumps on 100.5 and 95.5 meters. Already after the first round she had an advantage of 17.4 points over second ranked Coline Mattel from France, finally she extended this lead to almost 30 points. The distance of her first round jump is also registered officially as the first World Cup hill record.
Runner-up Mattel jumped 92.0 and 87.0 meters in this competition. At her second jump she had notably more tailwind then most other jumpers. But thanks to additional points by the wind compensation rule she was still able to secure the second rank. Germany's Melanie Faisst, still fourth after the first round, eventually took the third rank with jumps on 88.5 and 93.0 meters.
Austria's Daniela Iraschko jumped from seven to four in the second round (88.0 and 92.5 m). Japan's Sara Takanashi (86.5 and 87.5 m) and Italy's Evelyn Insam (93.0 and 87.0 m) followed on the fifth and sixth rank.
Katja Pozun was the best Slovenian on the seventh place (88.5 and 87.0 m). Norway's Anette Sagen, who was still third after the first jump (88.5 m) fell back to the eighth position with an 80.5 meter jump in the second round.
The next Ladies World Cup competition will be held on January 6th in Schonach (GER).

"Winning the first World Cup is just a good feeling. I didn't have a good winter last season and I didn't deliver expected results at the Junior Worlds and Worlds. But I trained hard in summer and it paid off. It was cool mixing the competition with the men's one which gave us even more attention. The event was just great here in Lillehammer, with all those spectators and media coverage. It was fun."
Coline Mattel:
"This is an awsome experience but I'm happy that the first World Cup event is over - I was so anxious in the last days and also yesterday! Maybe I was nervous because I did not jump that well in the last days, there were good jumps and bad attemps. Now I'm really happy with second place, with the event in Lillehammer, which is another important step forward for Ladies Ski Jumping."
Melanie Faisst:
"Today, everything worked out well, and I'm very happy with the outcome. I wasn't satisfied with my jumps in the last days, I would say that today, I delivered the two best jumps of the last two weeks."
