The injury Ramona Straub suffered through her fall in the Continental Cup in Lahti on Saturday is worse then expected.

Germany's Ramona Straub is the next who signs her name to the long list of jumpers with a torn ACL. She fell on Saturday in the Continental Cup competition in Lahti, and thereby suffered this injury.

Straub landed her second round jump of 94.5 meters out of a very high altitude, was able to avoid a fall at first, but then had to give way after a few meters. As she had a pain in her knee, she did not participate in the second competition on Sunday. On Monday an MRI was done in Munich by Dr. Andreas Kugler. He diagnosed an isolated rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. After consultation with Dr. Florian Porzig, the team physician of the German Ski Federation (DSV), she will undergo a surgery on Tursday.

"My knee suddenly slackened, I totally lost stability", said Straub. "This new injury is of course annoying, but I will do anything to get fit again as fast as possible, so that I can attack again with full force in the next season." If the healing process runs fine, Straub will be able to restart training in six to eight month. "I will only have some weeks (before the winter) to make up the training deficit."
